Rep. Darrell Issa, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 48th district since 2021, has recently expressed his support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents through a series of tweets. Issa, who succeeded Duncan D. Hunter in Congress, has been vocal about his stance on law enforcement and related issues.
On July 8, 2025, Issa tweeted his support for ICE agents while criticizing Democrats for not condemning what he described as an “attempted assassination” of law enforcement professionals. “Support our ICE agents! Still waiting for Democrats to start condemning the attempted assassination of our law enforcement professionals.”
Later that day, Issa announced plans to introduce a Congressional resolution aimed at unconditionally condemning violent attacks against ICE agents enforcing laws against criminal illegals. He speculated on the level of Democratic support such a resolution might receive by stating: “I’ve seen enough. Next week, I am introducing a Congressional resolution unconditionally condemning violent attacks against @ICEgov agents enforcing our laws against criminal illegals. Over/Under on how many Democrats will support law enforcement? I’m guessing not many.”
In another tweet posted on the same day, Issa commented on Antifa members and their treatment under President Donald Trump’s administration. He stated: “Antifa is made up of deadly criminals — and with @realDonaldTrump as President, they’re no longer getting a free ride. More like a trip to prison.” This comment was linked to information from Liz MacDonald at Fox News.
Issa was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 and currently resides in San Diego. He graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976.
