Students will learn to light and work with a coal forge to heat metal and use hammers and other tools to forge, bend and twist metal into desired shapes. Students will work on three projects (one each month) including their first pair of blacksmith tongs. A limited class size and low student:teacher ratio ensures plenty of coaching as you learn.
Students must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Natural fiber clothing only. Students should bring comfortable eye protection and a 24-40 oz. wood-handled hammer (ball peen or the Craftsman/Vaughn blacksmith hammer - NO claw hammers!) Hearing protection, leather apron, and drinking water are recommended.
Please read all requirements before signing up:
Museum Membership (not CBA membership), pre-registration and payment is required before attending first class as new student space is limited.
$120.00 includes BS101 instruction time, coal and steel fees.
There are no refunds for NO SHOWS.
