Santee Education: 6,141 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

Santee's schools enrolled 6,141 students in the 2022-23 school year, 2.5% less than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, making up 52.9% of the Santee's total enrollment.

Santee School District covers 11 schools within San Diego County with its main office in Santee.

Among the 11 schools in Santee, Rio Seco Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 933 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
